Our 4th Season is Launched!

The Bohemians has opened for the 2012 season, quietly at first but happy to be here! Our new treasures are still coming in, but we already have some lovely items for you.

A new collection of tunics from client favorite, women owned french brand, La Fiancée du Mékong. Also beautiful scarves, pareos, and summer hats from the same enterprise.

The Bohemians is also a source for discerning vintage shoppers. We offer vintage jeans (Levis and others), and a hand picked quality collection of jackets and tops. From time to time, we also have other vintage finds like this authentic university jacket (in small or medium)and other unique goodies.

On the jewelry front, handmade earrings, bracelets and rings from local french designers Muriel Handwerk and Segolene Cavelot. Artisanal collections this year include hand turned wood décor from Gordon Steadman, watercolors from Gordon Brady, and our yearly favorite Philippe Debat hanging still life and scens from around the Dordogne done in oils.

Of course, revamped furniture all painted by hand from yours truly is constantly turning with new items on the floor nearly every week.and there is still more to come!I will be sharing more about our artists, but in the meantime come check out our goods.

greetings all you fans of The Bohemians!

emerging from our winter slumbers and pursuits, preparations for our 2012 season are well underway and opening day is nearing. I will be sharing all sorts of updates about what's in store in the coming days here on the blog...

We have been sharing shots of the furniture collection in its before state on our Facebook page.

We have new artisanal collections I will be highlighting here in detail. We also have some of our favorites returning!

New product lines are also coming and will be introduced soon.

We have some new social media points as well! We are pinning on Pinterest, tracking trends and finding new inspiration. We are launching sales via Etsy and also via our revamped website, soon to be introduced!

We have a new collection of vintage and more on the way as I head off for some scouting in Paris this week-end. I have added a new sidebar category to our blog for my French Vintage crushes ... as I discover them I will put contact info there and will feature them during the season here on the blog.

So much to share after our long hiatus! and we have not closed our door on 2012 Artist Invitations, so if you or someone you know has been toying around with showing their creations in France ... hit us up!

the juices are beginning to flow and I can't wait to fling the doors open on this year's season. see you soon!

The Bohemians will be closed for the 2011 season beginning Monday, October 3rd. Our third season was our best ever and we have had a wonderful time welcoming new clients and introducing new artists and artisans.

Thanks to all for your support and encouragement. While our boutique is now closed, we will continue to offer quotes on your furniture renovation projects. All you need to do is email us a photo of your furniture piece and what you have in mind. We will get back to you promptly with our quote.

We look forward to seeing you next spring and will pop in with updates until then!

The Bohemians sera fermé pour la saison 2011 commence Monday, 3 Octobre. Notre troisième saison a été notre meilleur jamais et nous avons eu un temps merveilleux accueillir de nouveaux clients et l'introduction de nouveaux artistes et d'artisans.

Merci à tous pour votre soutien et encouragement. Alors que notre boutique est maintenant fermée, nous continuerons à offrir citations sur vos projets de rénovation de meubles. Tout ce que vous devez faire est de nous envoyer une photo de votre meuble et ce que vous avez à l'esprit. Nous vous répondrons rapidement avec nos devis.

Nous nous réjouissons de vous accueillir au printemps prochain et nous allons faire des petits coucous jusqu'a la!

summer season slowing ... preparations underway ...

hi all, September is around the corner, weather is still lovely but locally we are thinking about going back to school, fall gardening, weatherproofing, etc.

here at The Bohemians we are thinking about our end of season sale and beginning work on next year's collection of furniture for the opening of the 2012 season ...

Today I am in the workshop for a day of furniture sanding ... one custom project, 'pickling' of a beautiful 2 piece oak buffet with carved floral details from the 30s.

Also, a cabinet for a tv:stereo center, a substantial mediterranean style coffee table with drawers, and a curvy small armoir with cabinet and drwers ... perfect for a small bar.

A silly bamboo coffee table, square ... waiting for a pop color to make it special.

All new pieces on their way.

But can I please share a tip with you all? In doing the custom piece, I am laboriously removing contact paper from the inside.

Can any of you remember a time when contact paper was not eventually regretted?

CONTACT PAPER IS NOT YOUR FRIEND! and your furniture/shelves hate it too!

it not only is horrible to get off, but it leaves a gummy residue that is also murderously stubborn.

PLEASE, we beg you, leave the sticky paper in the store. If you need to line your shelves and the only patterned paper you love is contact, just tack it down. don't use the adhesive side. you'll thank me. and someday I might thank you!


bonjour à tous! en Septembre, encore il fait beau mais l'autonne est pret ... nous pensons sur la rentrée, le jardinage, le bricolage.

Chez The Bohemians, nous pensons sur notre promotion pour la fin de la saison ... et sûr la nouvelle collection de meuble pour la saison prochaine, 2012.

Je suis à l'ateliér et je fais un jour de ponçage ... un nouvelle petit bar, un placard de mediateque, un table de canapé, style mediterranée ... et un projet de client, un grand buffet.

j'ai de conseils pour vous, mes cheres clients ... n'utilisez pas la papier collé sur vos meubles! il n'est pas l'ami de les meubles et il n'est pas votre ami non plus! il est impossible à enlevé et plus, il laisse de colle sur des meubles. pas bon! je vous remercie en avance!!!!!

last year, the boutique was a little crowded with furniture and all our little lovelies for sale ... so I opened up my ateliér and created a showroom space to present more of the furniture. Clients enjoy being able to see the furniture more clearly and seeing the creative area! (picture is a little dark, but you get the drift ...)
